The Legend of Zelda Prototype
I began this vertical slice prototype as a means of exploring a recreation of the original The Legend of Zelda game with the assets of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. One primary consideration in the scope of the map was that the trees in the original had a base of 16x16 pixels and the trees in A Link to the Past had a base of 64x64 pixels, thus the world would need to be sixteen times larger than the original game to account for the increase in asset sizes. While this meant for a large undertaking, it also enabled more flexibility with the map layout and increased detail, such as I was able to do with the non-uniform tree placements and the waterfall and lake in the south-western region of the map, and greater immersion within the original world.
This map in particular is a recreation of region I8 of the original The Legend of Zelda map, just with added detail:
How to Play
- Movement: WASD and Arrow Keys
- Sword: Spacebar and Left Mouse Button
