Matt Colón
Hello! I'm Matt Colón, and I have had a lifelong interest in video game development. In college, I focused my studies on artificial intelligence and computer graphics in addition to software engineering, and based my thesis on creating a framework to leverage the believability of autonomous agents while performing reliable stories. Since then, I've experimented with building a game engine from the ground up in Java including features like randomized maps and dynamic directional lighting in a tile-based engine, built a chess game as a web app, and more recently have been creating games in Unity for myself and for Games for Love, a nonprofit dedicated to easing suffering, saving lives, and creating sustainable futures for children.
My Christian faith is an important part of my life, and I have stepped into several key leadership roles to use my gifts and talents to show Christ's love to others and cultivate community between Christians who develop games. I am a board member of the Christian Game Developers Conference (CGDC) nonprofit, the CGDC SAGE group coordinator helping small groups of game developers encourage, support, and hold each other accountable in their game development journeys, and have helped plan, coordinate, and execute the first CGDC: Virtual conference in 2020.
